Florida Family Christmas
Yes, I think we are definitely back in the sunshine state. I hosted my first Christmas party since returning to Orlando for my daughters’ girl scout troop and I wore flip flops. I had a lot of ideas of what I would wear for the festive occasion, but after being too hot and sweating my make-up off, I decided on flip flops over heels. I don’t know if it is the humid Florida weather or my age that kept sweat beads popping up on my forehead. Can you relate?
I am happy to be back in Florida. It is that time of year again for Christmas traditions for our family. Some things that we like to do around Central Florida is to visit the Bethlehem Walk in Longwood. This is such an awesome ministry that explains the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ through a guided drama tour. My family never gets tired of it. We usually meet my sister, brother-in-law and their children there and grab a bite to eat at Cracker Barrel after the tour. It is a great way to spend time with your family. We love it! Downtown Disney is always jumping during the Christmas season with beautiful light displays and live entertainment. Most of all, it is FREE! All of the activities are FREE!
To add to our usual stops for the season, we will go to downtown Winter Garden where the atmosphere is so nostalgic. Lots of beautiful lights and live entertainment too. There are plenty of local businesses to visit if you like good coffee, tea, pastries, restaurants, gift shops, etc. A great new place that just opened is a gourmet popcorn shop. mmm mmm mmm…… If you are a popcorn lover like I am, you would love this place. You can get cheesecake popcorn! We had a girl scout outing at downtown Winter Garden and made a stop to this popcorn shop - Ms. Bee’s Popcorn. I ordered the Dill Pickle popcorn. Good stuff.
Most importantly, this is a time to spend with your family serving the community. If you would like ideas on how to connect and serve your community here are a few ideas around Central Florida
If you connect with any of these ministries or if you are in a different town, let us know what you are doing with your family this season. We would love to hear about it.
